Eugene Genay Williams is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer… whose music carries the soul of gospel, the groove of funk, and the emotion of classic R&B.
Born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Eugene discovered music at an early age in church. At just age (7) seven years old, he picked up the guitar for the first time. What began as a simple Sunday performance quickly revealed something special. The congregation felt it. His family saw it and Eugene knew he had found his calling.
Music soon became a family journey. During Eugene's high school years, his father, Roscoe Williams, formed The Williams Brothers, inspired by the same vision that drove Joe Jackson to create the The Jackson 5—building a talented family group that could entertain audiences everywhere. The Williams Brothers performed throughout the state of New Jersey, New Zealand, Australia, Caribbean Island Jamaica, and more, giving Eugene the opportunity to travel and perform from a young age. Those early experiences on stage became the foundation of his career, providing invaluable performance experience and a deep understanding of the power of live music to connect with audiences.
This version flows naturally, strengthens the storytelling, and highlights how Eugene's early experiences shaped the entertainer he is today.
During the concourse of his aspiration… Eugene crossed paths with influential musicians who helped shape his sound and vision. One of those early influences was Steve Washington of the funk band Slave, & the Ohio Players, whose success and insight into the music industry left a lasting impact.
Eugene’s breakout single Cruising With You later reached the Top 10 on the ISON Live Radio International Network syndicated chart in 2006, thereby, introducing his music to audiences around the world. He also collaborated with funk legendCharles Smith (Guitar Player) of Kool & the Gang, further shaping his signature blend of soul, funk, rock and jazz.
Eugene is known as a versatile performer who can seamlessly alternate between jazz guitar, soulful vocals and a wide range of styles including R&B, rock, pop, and gospel. Whether performing intimate venues, corporate events, or large audiences, his goal remains the same—to create a musical experience that connects people and leave a lasting impression.
From church stages in New Jersey to audiences around the world, Eugene continues writing, recording and producing music from his private studio, sharing songs that speak to the heart while keeping the spirit of live performance alive.
